WhitePages.com Outlook Search Bar
This is a C++ Application which uses Microsoft ATL to integrate into Outlook as a toolbar. You can use the WhitePages Outlook Search Bar to look up telephone listings via the WhitePages.com API, then import them into your Outlook contacts by clicking a button.
Install WPOutlookSearchBar
To install the WPOutlookSearchBar:
- Download the sample code zip file
- Unzip the code
- Invoke the
setupprogram (should be in the folder named Release). You must have administrative rights to complete the setup. - Answer YES to the dialog about installing Visual C++ application and proceed through the install dialog.
- If you do not already have msxml6 installed on your machine, you must install it. Either download from Microsoft or invoke the msxml6 in the same folder as the setup program. It also has an install dialog, including a license agreement from Microsoft. Proceed through the installation to completion.
- You should now be ready to use the WPOutlookSearchBar
Using WPOutlookSearchBar
To use the WPOutlookSearchBar:
- Start Outlook. If this is the first time Outlook has run since the installation it will ask for installation confirmation.
- There will be a new toolbar called: Search WhitePages.com
- Click on the
Search WhitePages.comtoolbar and a search dialog box will appear.
- Enter the name and location of the person you are looking for.
- Press the
Searchbutton. - If this is the first time using the WPOutlookSearchBar you will be prompted to enter an api_key. If you have previously used the WPOutlookSearchBar the previous api_key will be retained and used again. You can change the api_key with the
Configure API Keybutton. - Scroll through the listings found and click the
Addbutton for any listing you wish to add to your Outlook Contacts.
- When you are done, close the toolbar application.
- If you select
Contactsfrom the Outlook Go Menu, you will now see the selected listings included.
