I may be in over my head here because I have no idea what i am doing. I would like to use the reverse phone feature but do not want to have to pay $14.95 for it. It there a way that i can put in a few different phone #'s and get who they are listed to?
If you are only looking for a few phone numbers then the easiest method would be to run those over on our main web site (http://www.whitepages.com/reverse_phone).
It is completely free as are all of our consumer services.
If you would like to try the reverse_phone API method then that is best described here (http://developer.whitepages.com/docs/Methods/reverse_phone). You'll need to sign up for an api_key, but you can test it out using a web browser. I use the JSON outputtype and FireFox as that combination is the easiest to read in my opinion.
How do i try the reverse phone number feature? I clicked on it and all I see is a description of what it does..I need to find out who a number belongs to, I have already searched this number on another site, and found the location, but not the name.
If you are just looking to make a couple of reverse phone searches or to just do it for yourself I would recommend bookmarking
http://whitepages.com/reverse_phone/
If you would like some tips on integrating this API with your app the documentation for reverse_phone query is here:
http://developer.whitepages.com/docs/Methods/reverse_phone
If you have a specific question about the API please post a follow up question here and I'd be happy to answer it.
crazyp - we do have a separate paid service today, but we're certainly thinking about making this one a paid service, and we have other options as well. Can you tell us more about what you're trying to do? (If you'd prefer to do so privately, send mail to api at whitepages dot com.)
I have no idea what I am doing. all of this is new to me. i had the same problem as carrie how do i implicate any of these things like reverse phone, address , business etc HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what do i do in the beginning to get started? where do i put my api #
Depends what kind of information you need. If you need to lookup landline number then you have a chance to do it for free. No chances for cell and unlisted numbers... here's interesting article on free and paid services comparison <a href="http://reverselookupcanada.ca/free-and-paid-services">Free and Paid Reverse Phone Lookup Services</a>

Hi Sophia,
The short answer is no. Cell phone numbers are not collected into any generally available directory.

you can just add outputtype=JSON as another parameter to the query string.
See http://developer.whitepages.com/docs/JSON for more details

I am developing an application that will require several thousand reverse lookups per day, is there a paid option that will accommodate this?
